The Transcranial Electrical Stimulation with Temporal Interference (TES T!) system comprised the Temporal Interference Brain Stimulator for Research (TIBS-R) with components including the Intelligent Current Source (JCS), electrode connector box (ECB), and high-pass filter (HPF). Current was delivered through two pairs of stimulating electrodes (four electrodes total) embedded in the hd-EEG net. All other hd-EEG recording channels (252) passed through a low-pass filter (LPF) before reaching the recording amplifier. The dual HPF and LPF system allowed for simultaneous TES-TI and hd-EEG recording. Trigger (TRIG) outputs from the TIBS-R allowed for identification of when stimulation occurred. B . TES 15kHz -TI 1Hz consisted of one pair of electrodes delivering high frequency alternating current (E 1 : 15,000 Hz) and the other pair delivering high frequency alternating current with an offset (E 2 : 15,0001 Hz) to create amplitude modulation at the difference frequency (1 Hz) deep in the brain. C . Simulated temporal interference electric field in grey matter for an individual participant. Maximum electric field values occurred in deep, left ventromedial prefrontal cortical regions with values exceeding 0.7 V/m. D .
